Bonnie Wright

Bonnie Francesca Wright (born 17 February 1991) is an English actress, model director, and activist. Her most well-known character is the role of Ginny Weasley, the Harry Potter film series's main character. Born in London, Wright portrayed the role for ten consecutive years before she was chosen to play the character as the character in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II (2011). After the film, Wright appeared in a series of independent films which included Before I Sleep (2013), The Sea (2013) and After the Dark (2014) and After the Dark (2014). The films were met with mixed reviews. Wright made her stage debut with Peter Ustinov's The Moment of Truth in 2013 at the Southwark Playhouse. In 2012, she graduated from University of the Arts London with a bachelor's in filmmaking. The following year, she founded her own production company, BonBonLumiere, and began to make short films. Her first film she directed was, the coming-of age drama Separate We Come and Separate We Go (2012). It was released at the Cannes Film Festival to great public acclaim. She also directed Know Thyself (2016), with Christian Coulson, and Sextant (2016) Both featuring landscape and emotion as the main themes. Wright's trilogy Phone Calls, which was premiered at Tribeca Film Festival 2017, featured three episodes. Medusa’s Ankles (2018) featuring Kerry Fox, Jason Isaacs and is based on A. S. Byatt’s The Matisse Stories. She directed music videos for singers Sophie Lowe, Pete Yorn, as well as Scarlett Johansson. Wright has been recognized for her environmental activism; she also serves as an ambassador for charities Greenpeace as well as Lumos.
