Summer Bishil Bio

Summer Bishil was raised in Pasadena (California). She and her family relocated out of the country when she was three. Summer attended British and American schools as her family was living abroad. she returned home to her hometown town of Pasadena just shy of her birthday of 14. Attracted by the idea of becoming an actress from at the age of 5, Summer took her first acting class when she was 14 years old. Nine months later, she signed with an agent/manager to begin her full-time profession. She is enrolled in college in off days, working on her degree. She was among the young stars featured in Vanity Fair's cover article, "Hollywood's New Wave: The Hottest Kids in Hollywood" in August 2008.Was named one of the "Ten Actors to Watch" by Variety (2007).Nominee for Best Actress - Spirit Award. Bishil started acting lessons at age 14 years old. Within a year, Bishil was signed to an employment contract by a management or agency. Bishil began her career as a character on the Nickelodeon television show Just for Kicks. After that she was signed an agreement with a manager and an agency. Her first big break was in the film of Alan Ball, Towelhead. It is an adaptation of the novel of the same title. Dana Stevens, a Slate critic, claimed that "Her performance in a movie that , despite its best intentions, is completely fake slightly embarrassing, as if it were an extended PSA concerning inappropriate touching is the truthful thing." Bob Strauss, who writes for various Los Angeles newspapers, states that Bishil, "...is one of the best natural actors to come out in recent years." Gary Goldstein in a September 12 Los Angeles Times review of the film Towelhead said that "...newcomer Summer Bishil turns into a confident, captivating performance as Jasira. "In 2009, she filmed Wayne Kramer's new project, Crossing Over, starring Harrison Ford, Ray Liotta and Ashley Judd, a portrayal that garnered some positive attention from Associated Press's Jay Reiner. She was cast as Azula in M. Night Shyamalan's film The Last Airbender (2010). The sequel was never produced.
