She was featured in the 1998 music video for Blues Traveler's song Canadian Rose. Richards played the role of Christmas Jones, a nuclear-physicist in The World Is Not Enough (1999), a James Bond movie that had a huge box office gross. Although she considered her role to be "brainy", athletic, and had depth of character, it was criticised as not credible. Many people commented on her outfit which consisted of a tank top with a low cut and tight shorts. Entertainment Weekly ranked her as one of the most unsavory Bond girls ever. She was also named "Worst Supporting Actress" at 1999 Razzie Awards. Richards also appeared in the situation comedy series Spin City, Two and a Half Men and Friends.
